Now that the hurricanes have passed, numerous Harper members have contacted us to express concern about their favorite Caribbean properties. Here is the most up-to-date information we have on all 40 Harper-recommended properties in the region. We will continue to update this list as more information flows in.

Here at Andrew Harper, our hearts go out to everyone affected by the hurricanes in the Caribbean. Donations certainly help, but the livelihoods of thousands in the region depend on tourism. The best way to support these properties and their staffs is to visit them.

“Amanyara was closed for scheduled maintenance works during the month of September, which meant we had no guests or staff in residence. Therefore, we were able to prepare for Hurricanes Irma and Maria. As a result, Amanyara weathered both storms with minimal impact, and our efforts remain focused on the personal needs of our staff, their families and local community.”

“Following Hurricane Irma’s path through Saint-Barthélemy, the Maison is temporarily closed. LVMH Hotel Management is relieved to confirm that the teams of Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France are safe. No guests were at the Maison as the storm passed during the annual closure. It is currently too early to determine the reopening date of Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France.”

“PSV was not affected by the recent storms in the Caribbean region. Thanks to our very southerly location, the island is outside of the hurricane belt. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by these storms. We know that this beautiful part of the world will soon bounce back from these challenging times. We very much look forward to welcoming all our guests to PSV at the start of this season next month.”

“Although Rosewood Little Dix Bay was closed and under construction, the resort did sustain damage and therefore will not re-open this December as originally planned. At this time, we are still assessing the effects Hurricane Irma had on the resort and do not yet have a new re-opening date.”

Severe structural damage. “At present time, Necker Island is working to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane season. Plans to re-build are underway and our latest news can be found here. Significant exterior and structural damage. “We are currently assessing the nature and extent of the damage sustained on property and based on our assessment at this time, we do not anticipate that Belmond La Samanna will open until at least April 2018.”

“The Great House, Villas and Cottages have been engineered exceptionally well and remain in excellent condition. “We were fortunate that the resort sustained no major structural damage; however, we will need to make needed repairs due to wind and water damage. While we would have liked to have opened earlier, due to the extensive rebuilding happening across the Caribbean, the logistics required to restore the property to the level of luxury and service our guests expect from the resort and the destination of Anguilla, will require this additional time.”

“Due to Hurricane Maria, The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is currently closed. The safety of our guests and associates is always a top priority and there are no reported injuries. “Amanera had a planned closure commencing on September 5, 2017, and will reopen as scheduled on November 1. After some planned resort maintenance as well as required repairs and landscaping as a result of Hurricane Irma passing near the coast, Amanera will re-emerge revitalised for the winter season.“

“The Grace Bay area fared well in Hurricane Maria, our team is safe, and our reopening preparations remain on schedule with Grace Bay Club welcoming guests on September 30 and West Bay Club on October 1.”
