Video: Galápagos Wildlife

Watch Mr. Harper's video of wildlife encounters while on excursions from Pikaia Lodge on Santa Cruz Island. Most of the islands of the Galápagos remain unspoiled and uninhabited, and in many places you still have the uncanny feeling that you are standing at the edge of the world. And because most of the archipelago is still uninhabited, much of the wildlife has little or no fear of people. We saw giant tortoises lumbering through the grass, algae-grazing marine iguanas relaxing in the sun beside a mangrove and, our favorite, sea lions playing in the surf off Mosquera Island. I won’t soon forget the 15 minutes we spent snorkeling with these graceful and inquisitive animals.
