In the 30 years since it was founded, Aman Resorts has grown its portfolio slowly and steadily. In recent years, however, new properties have opened with surprising regularity. The debut has just been announced of Amanvari, the firm’s first resort in Mexico, located on the East Cape of the Baja Peninsula, about an hour’s drive north of Los Cabos International Airport. Backed by the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and fronted by the tranquil waters of the Sea of Cortez, the property is scheduled to open in 2020.

Twenty bi-level pavilions will come with floor-to-ceiling windows, wraparound sundecks and cantilevered pools. And the main beachfront pavilion will contain three restaurants and a library. Nearby, guests will find a 100-foot infinity pool, four hot tubs and a spa. Activities will include whale watching, horseback riding, diving, sailing and fishing. In contrast to some of the hectic and overtouristed areas of Baja, Amanvari promises to offer privacy and serenity in a pristine natural environment.
