Italy’s exquisite Lake Como has no lack of glamorous resorts and villas, but now the town of Como itself has a new hotel that may prove worthy of its glorious setting.
Located on the waterfront Piazza Cavour, the 18-room VISTA Palazzo Lago di Como is set within a salmon-pink, 19th-century Venetian-style palazzo — a local landmark — that has recently undergone an 18-month comprehensive renovation. Sumptuous accommodations come with Italian-marble baths overlooking the lake. As well as unforgettable views, the rooftop features a library, a bar and the Sottovoce restaurant, all of which are for the exclusive use of the palazzo’s guests. The aim here is to provide privacy and a residential atmosphere. Amenities include the use of a gleaming Riva wooden speedboat, plus a seaplane, which is moored on the lake in front of the hotel.
