Excursion: Prince Edward Distillery

Photo by Hideaway Report editor Started in 2007 by two American women, Arla Johnson and Julie Shore, the Prince Edward Distillery produces Canada’s only potato-based vodka (which takes full advantage of one of Prince edward Island’s primary crops). Success was almost instantaneous: In 2009, they brought home a Gold Medal from the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition. They also produce a grain vodka flavored with wild blueberries, and a crisp and citrusy gin. I highly recommend the tour. The distillery is located in Hermanville, close to the East Point of the island. 9984 Route 16, Hermanville. Tel. (902) 687-2586.
