Bridget Kapinus has traveled her whole life. At 16, she embarked on a two-month exchange program to Japan, which, she says, "sparked my appreciation for other cultures and gave me a unique perspective on a nation so different from my own." From that point on she was hooked. "I toured most of Ireland before setting off for Georgetown University, where I graduated with a degree in Foreign Service and International Development." She now loves working at Andrew Harper. "It allows me to create once-in-a-lifetime trips for my clients and share my passion for experiencing all the world has to offer."
Three words that describe you:
Quirky, outgoing and adventurous
Leisure-time pursuits:
I play rugby in my spare time, about two to three times a week with matches on the weekends.
Area of the world you specialize in and know like the back of your hand:
I’m an odd eclectic mix: I handle Europe and Africa, but my baby is South America. I did a lot of Latin American studies in college, and I speak Spanish.
Most unexpected thing you’ve ever discovered on a trip:
The scorpion under my bed in the Amazon!
Country you’d most like to visit:
I would love to visit Kenya or Tanzania. I haven’t been on safari yet, and I desperately want to go.
If you had to live in a hotel forever, which one would it be:
Kviknes in the Norwegian fjords. The view is like something out of a painting.
Most out-of-the-way place you’ve ever found yourself:
An American Air Force base in Okinawa on the Fourth of July! It was a fun mix of Japanese and American culture. Never thought I would be eating hot dogs and watching fireworks in a kimono!
Dream travel buddy:
Amy Poehler; I think she’d be entertaining!
What makes you a smart traveler:
I guess I try to pack light and efficiently. Every time I’ve overpacked I’ve wished I packed less, and when I pack light I never regret it, I just do laundry.
Natural wonder you can’t wait to see:
The Nile. I’d like to see it at the delta in Egypt and then further down the continent as well.
Most breathtaking scenery you've ever witnessed:
It’s probably a tie between the Norwegian fjords and overlooking the Amazon from a rope bridge as high as the canopy.
You wish you would have traveled here sooner:
Mexico. I wish I would have gone when I was younger. Places like Cabo have changed so much just in the last five years.
