Though airlines sometimes seem to be doing their best to make flying unpleasant, every now and they make travel a little easier with the announcement of new nonstop flights.

Here is a sampling of some of the most recent new international connections from the United States:

• Charlotte to Rome, Italy (daily, with US Airways)

• Seattle to Osaka, Japan (daily, with Delta)

• Seattle to Beijing, China (five days a week, with Delta)

• New York (JFK) to Valencia, Spain (four days a week, with Delta)

• Charlotte to Los Cabos, Mexico (four days a week, with US Airways)

• Detroit to Hong Kong (five days a week, with Delta)
