Arriving at Abastos 2.0, a casual restaurant on the edge of the main food market in Santiago de Compostela, we felt in the mood for a gin and tonic before dinner. When we ordered, the waiter asked us if we’d like to try some Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin, which, he explained, is distilled from locally grown Albariño grapes. At his suggestion, we tried it neat on the rocks. To our surprise, we liked the combination of botanicals that flavor it — sea beans, cardamom, sage, ginger, quinine, hibiscus, tea and bay leaves — so much that we tracked down a bottle the next day to bring home.
