The Hotel Savoy on Florence’s bustling Piazza della Repubblica has recently reopened following a six-month renovation. The number of rooms has been reduced from 102 to 80, in response to the contemporary demand for more space and ever-more-lavish baths. New furniture has been specially created for the property, and noted designer Olga Polizzi has scoured the city to find traditional artisans working in glass and metal.
In order to revive its original grandeur, the lobby now has raised ceilings and exposed columns. Its decoration, however, was left to the famous Florentine fashion house of Pucci, which has accented the space with vibrant Mediterranean colors. In addition, the hotel’s Tuscan restaurant, Irene, now shows a video installation of Pucci designs.
