Frequent visitors to Venice may recall the Palazzo Papadopoli because of the distinctive twin obelisks that adorn its roof. Located on the Grand Canal near the Rialto, the palazzo was constructed in 1580 and further embellished in the 18th century by Giambattista Tiepolo. In June this year, the newly restored palace will reopen as the 24-suite Aman Canal Grande. The ballroom, which can accommodate a party of 90 people, has three huge windows overlooking the Grand Canal. And at the rear, the palazzo boasts one of the largest gardens in Venice. I find it hard to conceive of a more mouthwatering prospect.
