Itinerary Extension to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

San Miguel de Allende street - Photo by Hideaway Report editor One of my favorite colonial cities in Mexico, San Miguel de Allende, lies just 60 miles east of Guanajuato. A picturesque place, it, too, has steep cobblestone streets, pretty pastel houses and grand 17th-century Spanish architecture, as well as an exuberant and festive atmosphere. No new hotels have opened to compete with my two favorites in town, the 37-room Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada and the 67-room Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, both of which have panoramic roof terraces and inviting garden swimming pools.
