Our Vice President of the Andrew Harper Alliance Group, Georgia Ridenhour, spent a lovely weekend by the coast this summer. Georgia stayed at both Hidden Pond and The Tides Beach Club, sister property to Hidden Pond. Below, she shares insider tips, impressions and favorite moments from an unforgettable long weekend.
Overall: Hidden Pond was relaxed and ideally suited for families.
Can't Stop Thinking About:
Favorite Moment: There were several: sitting poolside, cocktail and book in hand; evenings with the kids roasting s'mores over the outdoor fire pit; an adults-only dinner in Kennebunkport followed by drinks at On the Marsh, which had a pianist.
"Enjoy big, overstuffed chairs and the best view of the beach across the way."
Insider’s Tip: At Tides Beach Club restaurant, request the table nearest the front window. There, you will enjoy big, overstuffed chairs and the best view of the beach across the way – not to mention fabulous cocktails. Ask for the watermelon martini, which is not on the menu because it's such a favorite that "all the locals know to ask for it."
Neighborhood to explore: Downtown Kennebunkport is idyllic and worthy of several hours roaming through their art galleries and other unique stores, including a fabulous toy store with lots of the toys we grew up with.
Daytrip: Portland offered whale-watching and other sea excursions.
Please note that The Tides Beach Club is not currently a Harper-recommended property.
