Learn more about her five-day getaway in our nation's capitol below.

Overall impressions: The Hay-Adams is a wonderful small hotel. The staff at the hotel was overall the best that we have experienced anywhere. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Insider’s Tip: If you want a view of the White House from The Hay-Adams, you need to be above the third floor.

Favorite meals: We had terrific meals at The Lafayette, Equinox, and Georgia Brown's.

Favorite sightseeing: My favorite part of our sightseeing was the Library of Congress. I also really enjoyed the Phillips collection.

Daytrip suggestion: Alexandria.
