Last Word: Special Occasions

Staff at the Andrew Harper Travel Office constantly try to invent distinctive new services. Sometimes, however, the ideas come from subscribers. In recent years, we have been asked on innumerable occasions to help plan events such as family reunions, milestone birthday parties and honeymoons. Why, we were asked, did we not have a department dedicated to such itineraries? Well, now we have. Travel consultants have been assigned to a new “Special Occasions Desk” and are waiting to assist you. On our website, you will find sample itineraries: a family trip to Kenya, for example, on which participants will meet legendary conservationist Daphne Sheldrick and visit her elephant orphanage, as well as participate in a Maasai family blessing in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater. Another favorite of mine is a private birthday trip aboard a canal barge in Burgundy, on which guests will meet the owner of Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the most famous Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits.
