Luxury Hotel News: Ashford Castle For Sale

  Ashford Castle   The Galway Independent reports that Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo, is up for sale. A castle has stood on the grounds since 1228, when it was an early settlement of the Anglo-Norman founders of Galway. The 83-bedroom property was owned by the Guinness family from 1855 until 1939, and it was also featured in the 1951 John Ford film "The Quiet Man." Widely considered to be one of the more prestigious hotels in Ireland, Ashford Castle was purchased in 2007 by Irish property magnate Gerry Barret and is currently managed by Tifco Hotels. The guide price is €25 million.
