Inside, the grand marble stairway with elaborate moldings and gold and bronze accents has been restored to its original 1820s splendor. The hotel, with 177 guest rooms, a glass-topped spa with Russian-style saunas, two restaurants and an elegant tea lounge, sits in the heart of the city, next to St. Isaac’s Cathedral and just two blocks from the Hermitage Museum.
