4S Four Seasons Lion Palace St. PetersburgThe much-anticipated — and delayed — opening of the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg is now scheduled for spring 2013.This will follow a painstaking and laborious restoration of the Lobanov-Rostovsky Palace, also known as the Lion Palace for the two Renaissance marble lions that guard the entrance. Inside, the grand marble stairway with elaborate moldings and gold and bronze accents has been restored to its original 1820s splendor. The hotel, with 177 guest rooms, a glass-topped spa with Russian-style saunas, two restaurants and an elegant tea lounge, sits in the heart of the city, next to St. Isaac’s Cathedral and just two blocks from the Hermitage Museum.
