Last Word: Follow in My Footsteps

Country road in Mecklenburg - Photo by Hideaway Report editorOver the years, I have derived great pleasure from the knowledge that subscribers take my travels as a blueprint for adventures of their own. People routinely call the Travel Office and say, “I want to do exactly what he did.” Of course, at this point, the travel advisor is obliged to point out that not all of my experiences are wholly agreeable and that it might be wise to make some minor modifications to my original itinerary. But the fact that readers are inspired to follow in my footsteps (and then to compare notes on their return) gives me a consistent thrill — so much so, I am determined henceforth to create more detailed itineraries that the Travel Office can, if you wish, customize on your behalf. In addition to my recommended hotels and restaurants, I will provide detailed logistics — transportation options, driving times and so forth — plus sightseeing and shopping suggestions. Then, even if you don’t choose to adopt my template in its entirety, you will nonetheless have a framework that can be tailored to your own particular interests, be they food and wine, art history, architecture, gardens or whatever. I have found that many subscribers do not always appreciate the full range of services to which they have access, so I will also draw your attention to the specialist travel partners with whom we work and explain how their expertise can greatly help to enrich your journey.

I have constructed a 14-day driving itinerary based on my recent visit to Germany that you will find here. As ever, it is a privilege to be your guide.
