I have long had particular affection for the English city of Bath, with its Georgian crescents of golden Cotswold limestone. The Romans built a bathing complex over a thermal spring in the first century A.D. Early 2015 will see the opening of The Gainsborough Bath Spa, a 99-room hotel adjacent to the original Roman bath. This will contain a 14,000-square-foot spa complex where guests will be able to bathe in three therapeutic pools fed by the warm, mineral-rich waters of the spring. The spa will feature 11 treatment rooms, an ice chamber, a steam room and a fitness center. Perhaps next spring I will find time to take the waters and to report on their healing properties.
