For the December 2018 Hideaway Report, we traveled to Florida’s Historic Coast where we found the kind of quiet and beautiful place that most people discover only through word-of-mouth. Our weekend was a delightful and nostalgic journey back to an era when charming American seaside hotels weren’t such a rarity.
Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club is a gracious resort with 66 recently renovated guest accommodations that include patios or balconies offering dramatic beach and ocean views; some have in-room fireplaces and kitchenettes. Close to the lobby is a relaxing seaview deck with a gas fire pit, and on the second floor, a spacious terrace with a long granite bar. Guests have access to two on-site oceanfront swimming pools (one is adults-only), as well as all amenities at the lodge’s sister property.
