Refreshments: The Best 19th Hole

The Golfer’s Corner Lounge Bar in The Dunvegan Hotel is a short walk from the 18th green of the Old Course. Run by Jack Willoughby, a fourth-generation Texan, and his Scottish wife, Sheena, it is a delightful retreat where the company is convivial and the atmosphere is imbued with the royal and ancient game. Fascinating golf memorabilia adorn the walls, as do photos of touring pros and other celebrities who have downed their pints here, from Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer to Sean Connery and Clint Eastwood. I always make a point of stopping by The Dunvegan, which also serves simple but satisfying food in the bar, as well as in its Claret Jug Restaurant.
