.article-cta-top

In this wide-ranging podcast, Boyd Varty, of Londolozi, talks to Patrick O’Shaughnessy, of The Investor’s Field Guide, a blog on stock markets and money management. Varty, author of “Cathedral of the Wild,” grew up in the South African bush learning to track animals from his father and uncle, who learned from their father. Varty has used the art of tracking to inform his life and applies those principles to his everyday existence.

Here he talks about the history of the safari, having an up-close and personal experience with a black mamba, following one’s inner compass and using Joseph Campbell’s mythology to inspire his life choices. In essence, in learning to move in the wilderness, he learned how to move in the world and sees tracking as a way of living more connected to yourself. Give it a listen.
