The British Virgin Islands by Yacht

I have sailed in the British Virgin Islands on many occasions. There are few more pleasant ways to spend a February day than cruising up the 22-mile Sir Francis Drake Channel, which separates Tortola from a chain of smaller islands to the south. The scenery is exquisite: Much of the archipelago is verdant and mountainous, but the sand is as white and powdery as that on coral islands such as Anguilla.

The BVI comprises around 60 islands, of which only 15 are inhabited. A yacht is therefore able to take you to countless pristine beaches and dive sites. The epicenter of maritime activity is Road Town on Tortola. However, the Andrew Harper Travel Office routinely works with our Florida-based travel partner All Yachts Worldwide, which has an extensive range of both motor and sailing yachts
in the Caribbean.

This article appeared in the November 2014 print edition of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report under the headline “Yachting in the BVI.”
