The Hotel de Crillon closed its doors earlier this week for an extensive renovation project that is expected to last for two years. The patrician 147-room property dates to 1758, when it was one of two palaces commissioned by King Louis XV to comprise the Place de Concorde. It has since born witness to two monarchs, one revolution, one Napoleonic Empire and the Paris Peace Conference of 1919.
For those interested in bringing a piece of the Crillon home, the property will be holding an auction sale from April 22 to 28 organized by Artcurial Auction House. Antique furniture, lamps, silver, porcelain, fine wines and spirits will be among the 3,500 lots for sale.
