Sunset on the Irrawaddy
Orient-Express has announced a new river cruiser in Burma, the Orcaella. A smaller vessel than the 82-passenger The Road To Mandalay, the four-deck, 50-passenger Orcaella is set to launch on July 11, 2013. The cruiser will be able to navigate the Irrawaddy and its tributary the Chindwin as far north as Homalin, just 36 miles from the Indian border. It is named after the dolphins that are unique to the Irawaddy River. The Orcaella will cruise between Rangoon and Bhamo on on leisurely seven and 11-night cruises. Its schedule will run from January to April and from July to December.
