Laura Triebe, one of our Travel Consultants, recently spent a full week relaxing at Golden Door set in the North San Diego County foothills. She was able to luxuriously unwind with numerous spa treatments and yoga classes, while indulging in organic, locally raised fair.

Delve deeper into her week of pure bliss:

Insider’s Tip: Try to arrive a little earlier on Sunday, you need time for your interview and weigh in. This also gives you a chance to participate in an afternoon activity.

Overall impressions: Absolutely loved every moment, it was magical and healing for my body and my mind.

Favorite moment: Walking the labyrinth at night with the lights in the tree's with my new made friend. It was very spiritual and magical.

You can't stop thinking about: The archery class which was really fun.

Favorite meal or meals: The food was very tasty and I was never hungry. The fish was especially good.

Favorite restaurants, museums or sightseeing: I enjoyed many classes, my favorites was gentle yoga, and the astrology classes.

Surprising fact or tidbit: They have a lovely boutique shop.

Brought back/souvenir: A candle.

What to pack: Not much, just some toiletries, gym shoes and maybe a book. The hotel provides shorts, sweatpants, t-shirts and jackets daily. Women are requested not to bring jewelry. During your stay you don't wear make up or do your hair.

Anything else? This was one of the best weeks of my life, I wish every person I know could spend a week at this resort. It was wonderful.
