Cooking School

veggieLocated 45 minutes north of Hobart, The Agrarian Kitchen cooking school is surrounded by an organic farm that provides most of the produce used during lessons. The school is run by Rodney Dunn — the former food editor of Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine and one-time apprentice to star Sydney chef Tetsuya Wakuda — along with a rotating group of Tasmanian cooks and producers. The one- or two-day courses change according to the seasons. 650 Lachlan Road, Lachlan. Tel. (61) 3-6261-1099.

MONA

Overlooking the Derwent River, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) comprises a striking set of sandstone galleries that house one of the largest private art collections in the Southern Hemisphere. Local philanthropist David Walsh funded the museum, and since it opened in 2011, more than 600,000 visitors have come to experience his odd but consistently fascinating ?collection. This includes more than 1,560 ancient artifacts and 650 modern pieces that rang from Egyptian mummies to provocatively bizarre works by British artist Chris Ofili. 655 Main Road, Berriedale. Tel. (61) 3-6277-9900.
