The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is scheduled to debut in September as part of the redevelopment of the historic Grain Silo building on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. The museum is the brainchild of Jochen Zeitz, former CEO of the Puma sporting goods company and the owner of Segera Retreat, a 50,000-acre private wildlife reservation in Kenya. The silo has been repurposed by well-known British designer Thomas Heatherwick. When it opens, the museum will have more than 100,000 square feet of space on nine floors, in which to display one of the world’s most significant collections of contemporary African art, including work from both the continent itself and its diaspora.
