The Moselle Valley is a region in southwestern Germany, northeastern France and eastern Luxembourg. Germany’s stretch of the Moselle River carves a sinuous path northeast from Roman-founded Trier, flanked by dramatically steep vineyards, half-timbered wine villages and the occasional hilltop castle. The exquisite town of Bernkastel is the heart of this magnificent wine region, and across the river, Kues is home to the Mosel Weinmuseum’s remarkable tasting cellar. Tasting rooms are welcoming but many require appointments.
