Destination Information

The Jutland peninsula, located between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, borders Germany to the south. The topography is primarily flat, with deep fjords to the east. Jutland is popular for its beaches, windsurfing, hiking and cycling. Aarhus is Denmark’s second-largest city (population 260,000) and the country’s principal industrial port. Its formerly rough-and-tumble waterfront has now become a leisure destination and boasts several new museums, excellent dining options and a thriving music scene, primarily for jazz. Central Jutland, with its rolling hills, rivers and forests, offers hiking trails and more impressive fortresses. Opened in 1958, Legoland amusement park is an interactive, well-organized stop for those traveling with children.
