This sophisticated oasis in the heart of the upscale Polanco neighborhood is conveniently located within walking distance of the Lincoln and Chapultepec parks. A well-designed lobby leads to a striking polished-rosewood spiral staircase. The 35 spacious guest rooms feature separate sitting areas with glass-top writing desks, local artwork, butler service and marble baths stocked with artisanal soaps custom-made for the hotel by the local Manos que Curan skin care company. The recommended Las Alcobas Suite is augmented by a dining table seating six and an outdoor terrace with unobstructed city views. The two on-site restaurants include the vibrant Dulce Patria, which serves modern Mexican cuisine in a contemporary dining space with scarlet velvet banquettes. There is also a small spa and gym. Though the property lacks a pool, private yoga and Pilates classes can be arranged. Children under the age of 7 are not permitted at the hotel.

Convenient location; flawless service; excellent restaurants; custom-made soaps in bath.
Lack of buzzing hotel bar.
The deep jetted hydrotherapy tubs in the baths can only be run by your personal butler during certain hours of the day. Also, Las Alcobas has opened a second hotel under the same name in the Napa Valley.
Lowest Rate: Standard Superior Room, $340; Editor’s Choice: Las Alcobas Suite, $1,600 (personal butler service included).
Wi-Fi; Soft drinks and snacks/candies from the minibar; 24/7 concierge and butler service
