This tranquil 14-villa resort occupies a private and secluded 25-acre plot in a patch of rainforest outside the town of Puerto Iguazú. Common areas include a low-slung main lodge with a spectacular open-plan space, a multilevel outdoor deck facing a wall of green and a dining room serving seasonal dishes inspired by local ingredients from the surrounding province of Misiones. Set on a steep hillside, each secluded villa is separated from its nearest neighbor by at least 50 yards of vegetation and comes with a dedicated guide and vehicle. Most of the air-conditioned rooms have white wooden walls decorated with colorful framed drawings of tropical plants and birds, private decks with plunge pools and high tented ceilings. The atmosphere is very similar to that of an upscale African safari lodge. Though the property lacks a spa, a gym and a full-size swimming pool, guests have exclusive access to a private entrance to Iguazú Falls.

Spacious, tranquil and well-appointed villas; excellent seasonal and regional cuisine; the superlative guides and resort staff.
Although the resort has a secluded rainforest location, the nearby town of Puerto Iguazú is scruffy and unappealing.
It is an easy 45-minute transfer from the airport at Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, if you are traveling from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
Editor’s Choice: Villa for two, $2,100 (all meals, house wine and spirits, private guide and vehicle, and airport transfers included; minimum stay required).
