This spectacular 1863 resort hotel features views to the Mediterranean and Mount Etna and is set in terraced gardens. The 71-room property retains the alluringly genteel atmosphere of a stop on the Victorian Grand Tour. Guest lodgings are divided between the main hotel and a villa. Deluxe Suites come with oak parquet floors, vaulted ceilings, Sicilian oil paintings and terraces with sea views. Spacious sitting rooms are exquisitely furnished, and one featured a powder-blue damask sofa and several ormolu-accented stone-topped bureaus. Timeo Restaurant is an indoor-outdoor space serving Mediterranean cuisine, and The Literary Terrace and Bar offers splendid views and classic cocktails. Amenities include a wellness center with a sauna and heated outdoor pool, as well as complimentary use of the fitness center and beach amenities at nearby sister property, Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea. The hotel is closed from early January to mid-March.
