A scenic 45-minute drive from Queenstown, this splendid sanctuary stands along the shores of Lake Wakatipu with a majestic backdrop of snowcapped peaks. Handsome lakeside rooms and 700-square-foot Lodge/Chalet junior suites comprise the 12 distinctive accommodations, the suites having stone fireplaces and huge private terraces with lake and mountain vistas. The stone-and-timber main lodge, comprising a wood-paneled bar-lounge, is dominated by an atmospheric Great Room with beamed ceilings, massive rock fireplaces and towering picture windows. Other venues available for excellent meals range from a formal dining room and wine cellar to a sunset-facing terrace. The property also encompasses a gym, an outdoor lap pool, a Jacuzzi and a spa suite. The opportunities for fishing here are virtually limitless. Mountain biking, parachuting, kayaking and heli-skiing can also be arranged. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted.
