This beautiful wellness retreat set within a restored 19th-century hacienda is located on an old sisal plantation 40 minutes southwest of Mérida. The property encompasses 38 casitas and two three-bedroom villas that feature traditional Mayan architecture, local artwork, warm woods, floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offer compelling views of the gardens beyond and all expected modern conveniences. Lodgings are spacious (even the lowest room categories are 2,200 square feet) and come with private plunge pools and sundecks. The hotel’s primary amenity is its spa complex housed in a cenote (or natural freshwater sinkhole pool) and comprising an outdoor infinity pool, a temazcal sauna and a flotation room. There are also four notable restaurants overseen by star chef Jorge Vallejo. Memorable cooking classes, tequila tastings and traditional temazcal ceremonies led by a shaman can be arranged.
