Family-owned and -operated 32-room (six suites) hotel occupying a château built in 1866 on the site of a 16th-century castle and surrounded by a 37-acre park dotted with venerable trees. Formal lobby features a marble fireplace, paneled walls and fine rugs. French doors open onto a balustraded terrace with views of the Indre Valley. Best rooms (such as 2 and 4) are in the main building, while the rest occupy three pavilion annexes. Some suites feature circular bedrooms and large adjoining sitting rooms traditionally furnished with Louis XVI armchairs and antiques; several look out upon the valley. Excellent restaurant in a light-filled conservatory for regional fare; also a relaxing lounge-bar with a billiard table and fireplace, massage room, sauna, tennis court and solar-heated outdoor pool. Family-friendly property.
