Set along a private 10-mile stretch of the famous Traful River in a scenic mountain valley within Nahuel Huapi National Park, this family-owned fly-fishing lodge encompasses six twin-bedded guest quarters. A secluded cabin about a mile and a half from the main house, featuring a private deck that offers impressive views of the lake and a spacious living room, is also available. Cozy public spaces include an inviting wood-paneled sun lounge with views of the garden, valley and distant mountains and a living room with a fireplace and comfortable seating. The dining room, serving three-course menus for every meal, specializes in regional cuisine. The world-class fly-fishing here is the real draw, but a wide array of other activities is offered, including bird-watching tours and horseback riding excursions, as well as photography classes and culinary workshops. The hotel does not permit children under the age of 12 and is closed from May to October.
The closest airport to the resort, the international airport in Bariloche, is a 90-minute drive south, or there is an airport two and a half hours away in San Martín de los Andes.
Editor’s Choice: Double Room for two, $2,100 (all meals, wine and spirits, ground transfers, fly-fishing and other selected activities included).
