This legendary 82-room hotel is housed by a 16th-century palazzo in a perfect location on the Grand Canal and features views of Santa Maria della Salute. Several suites overlooking the Grand Canal are individually decorated with Murano-glass light fixtures, antique furniture, original wooden ceilings, dressing-table mirrors, chandeliers and exquisite Rubelli fabrics. The suites named for writers Ernest Hemingway and Somerset Maugham and Victorian art critic John Ruskin are especially inviting and come highly recommended. The lovely Ristorante Club del Doge offers a wonderful terrace on the Grand Canal and the atmospheric Bar Longhi showcases a sleek carved marble counter, plus an informal terrace lounge is open April-October. Other amenities include a cooking school, fitness center and spa with Turkish baths. This hotel features period grandeur throughout with style expected of a Venetian palazzo.
