Although temporarily closed for renovations, this gracious 167-room hotel, located in a landmark 1910 Belle Epoque palace, offers Old World charm and flawless service. Public areas include a handsomely appointed lounge adjacent to the opulent marble-floored lobby. Lodgings feature traditional décor, with brocade-print wallpaper, elaborate moldings, decorative marble fireplaces, damask upholstery and framed sepia-toned etchings, plus views of the Museo Nacional del Prado, Lealtad Square or the hotel’s garden. Goya Restaurant & Terrace, which offers outdoor dining, weather permitting, is notable for its excellent cuisine. Other dining options include Krug Bar for Champagne and caviar. Amenities include a small gym and wellness center, although the property does not include a swimming pool. The comprehensive renovation encompasses all rooms and public areas. A new spa will be added, and restaurants and bars will be updated.
