This distinctive historic inn, once the home of Dr. William Seward and Lila Vanderbilt Webb, is beautifully situated on a 1,400-acre estate overlooking Lake Champlain. Fully restored in 1987, this property features many of the original beautiful appointments in the gracious public areas. Most of the 24 rooms feature original furnishings but no TVs. (Note: Five of the rooms have shared baths; be sure to inquire.) Four private cottages nearby can also be booked. The inn is part of a nonprofit organization that includes the original farm, which provides much of the produce for meals in the excellent dining room. Extensive walking and jogging trails are nearby, and farm tours are worthwhile. The property is open May through October.
