Surrounded by 22 acres of gardens and farmland, this Civil War-era Italianate mansion on the North Fork was slated for demolition in 2004 when Jeff Hallock, a descendant of the original settlers, spearheaded its renovation. The inn received the New York State Historic Preservation Award in 2008. Six individually decorated rooms feature gas fireplaces and baths with heated floors. The three-room Belvedere Suite includes its own private staircase, barn-board walls and a brick chimney. Dining options include a formal restaurant showcasing a grand tasting menu that primarily uses produce grown on-site, plus the Speakeasy for casual pub fare. Painting and yoga classes can be arranged. This property is not recommended for those traveling with children.
