Set on a private 54,300-acre reserve, this camp consists of five distinctive safari lodges. The Great Fish River Lodge offers nine suites decorated in elegant classic-contemporary style. Ecca Lodge’s six stand-alone suites grant sweeping views that open onto wraparound decks, and the Uplands Homestead, a restored 1905 farmhouse, has three suites for use by groups of up to six. In addition, Melton Manor has room for eight in four suites built around a courtyard, and Fort House is ideal for families of up to eight. Campfire cooking and picnics in the bush are available. This area offers excellent game-viewing for a full range of species, including big cats. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the Great Fish River Lodge. The reserve is closed from mid-May to mid-June.
The reserve is malaria-free, making this an ideal place for a safari with younger children.
