Set amid 27 acres of gardens, chef Raymond Blanc’s gourmet retreat occupies a transformed 15th-century stone manor about 70 minutes northwest of London and 10 miles southeast of Oxford. The 32 individually designed rooms and suites (most with A/C) are in the main house and a garden wing. Garden Junior Suites provide spacious marble baths, plus private terraces and gardens. Specifically request the Kiki or Sandalwood, both of which include woodburning fireplaces and contemporary furnishings. Elegant lounges lead to the renowned two-star contemporary French restaurant (divided into three formal dining rooms, including a conservatory). The property’s grounds encompass 11 beautifully manicured gardens, including an English water garden, a tranquil Japanese tea garden and vegetable and herb gardens. Inquire about the cooking school and gardening school schedules. Wine cellar tours and in-room spa treatments can also be arranged.
