Gracious traditional hotel with 15 rooms (two suites) in a handsome 18th-century limestone house just below the ramparts of the Château d’Amboise. Second-floor rooms offer views of the Loire River; avoid rooms in the annex, which can be noisy. One air-conditioned suite with powder-blue fabric-covered walls and a mix of antiques and fine reproduction furniture included a sitting room with a sofa, plus a bedroom with a comfortable bed, a large chestnut armoire, heavy curtains and framed 18th-century etchings. The large bath provided a separate tub and shower. Bar-lounge, library and small business center, garden terrace and continental breakfast; no restaurant or pool, but warm, attentive service. In-room massages can be arranged. Convenient location from which to tour.
