Located on a 450-acre wooded estate in the Blackwater River Valley, this inviting family-owned 18th-century Georgian mansion hotel is 30 minutes north of Cork. The 20 country house-style rooms feature elegant period furnishings and ample baths but intentionally lack TVs to encourage guests to disconnect. Public areas include a grand parlor, an adjacent Victorian conservatory designed by Richard Turner in the 1860s and the Presidents’ Restaurant for gourmet cuisine that primarily uses ingredients sourced from the estate’s working farm, river and kitchen gardens. Outdoor activities include fly-fishing on the estate’s private beats, horseback riding, falconry, golf and clay-pigeon shooting. Note: The hotel and restaurant are closed Monday and Tuesday.
The hotel produces a craft cider and the Calvados-style Longueville House Apple Brandy from the property’s 25-acre apple orchard.
Lowest Rate: Deluxe Twin Room, $210; Editor’s Choice: Manor Room, $250 (minimum stay may apply).
