Tucked within seven acres of wooded gardens overlooking Lough Swilly on the scenic Fanad Peninsula, this imposing Georgian house built in the 1760s is now a 34-room family-owned hotel. Most recommended Superior Rooms come with an eclectic mix of antiques, gas fireplaces and balconies or patios. The spectacular dining room of the Cook & Gardener, featuring wooden floors, a tented ceiling and majestic views of the fjord, serves a menu that primarily employs ingredients and produce from the hotel’s walled kitchen garden. The more casual restaurant, Tap Room, specializes in stone-baked pizzas and local craft beer. Hotel amenities include a croquet lawn and a 50-foot indoor heated swimming pool. Other activities include brewery tours of Kinnegar, beach walks, golf, deep-sea fishing, kayaking and guided horseback riding.
