Originally a 17th-century monastery and later an aristocratic residence, this superb hotel is perched on a hillside with gorgeous views over the steep vineyards that produce Moscato d’Asti. There are 36 rooms and suites, including six exquisite gem-themed Grand Luxury guest quarters in the separate Suites San Luigi. Each suite has unique features: Pearl has two private gardens, one with a Jacuzzi, a guest-living room with a sofa bed, two baths, a whirlpool tub in the main bedroom, a private wine cellar and panoramic views over the vineyards. Diamond comes with a grand piano. Other amenities include a Michelin-starred restaurant, a relaxed bistro, a trellised bar, a cigar room, a first-rate spa and both an indoor and a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. The hotel can arrange private truffle-hunting excursions and guided visits to local wineries and cheese shops.
