This splendid lodge is located on a private wildlife conservancy along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which forms the southern boundary of the Samburu National Reserve, the best known of Kenya’s northern game parks. The buildings display dramatic architecture that is a fusion of Moroccan and Swahili styles and is both functional and aesthetically appealing. Nine tented suites, each with more than 1,000 square feet, offer private unheated plunge pools on scenic terraces (Suites 8 and 9 share a pool). A spa, set on the banks of the river, offers pampering in full view of elephants. The lodge also offers excellent food, plentiful wildlife and well-organized excursions, including camel safaris. The camp is closed for two weeks in November.
