This luxurious camp in the remote Kafue National Park is a two-hour flight from either the capital, Lusaka, or Livingstone at Victoria Falls. The six lavish canvas-walled suites reached by elevated wooden walkways offer spectacular views from private observation decks. Room interiors come with four-poster beds, electric lights and fans, but lack A/C. Each unit also comes with indoor and outdoor showers. The main lodge is decorated in a mixture of colonial and African styles, and an adjoining panoramic deck offers a small swimming pool. The excellent cuisine served at the lodge is accompanied by an extensive selection of wines. Afternoon and evening game drives through the surrounding Busanga Plains, renowned for spectacular cheetah sightings, as well as endangered wild dogs, are offered daily. At the beginning of the season, guided boating excursions can also be arranged by the hotel. The lodge is open only from June to the end of October.
No Wi-Fi is available.
Editor’s Choice: Tented Suite for Two, $2,300 (all meals, house wines and spirits, scheduled camp activities, laundry and park fees included).
