This once-dilapidated 1890s property was authentically rebuilt as a gracious wilderness retreat in a peaceful box canyon, overlooked by some of the highest peaks in the Rockies. Accommodations consist of three cozy cabins, the six-person River House on a high bank above a stream (ideal for families) and a two-story log guesthouse with four bedrooms and an optional additional suite. The main lodge evokes the Old West with a massive stone fireplace and an array of Native American artifacts. Excellent cuisine is served in a fireside dining room or in a canvas-topped open-air pavilion. Other amenities include multiple hot tubs and a billiards room. Outdoor activities are highlighted by horseback riding, guided hikes and fly-fishing for trout on ponds, a mountain stream and the famed Gunnison River. The property is closed from November to the end of May.
