Set within a walled compound in Arab East Jerusalem, this historic mansion-style hotel has long been a favorite with the world’s press corps and international dignitaries. Its 94 traditionally furnished accommodations occupy four buildings. Lodgings in the newer wing are themed by floor, and most have large terraces. Classic Pasha Rooms feature 19th-century Ottoman architecture and original 100-year-old stone floors. Request one of the Deluxe Pasha Rooms or Junior Suites in the Main House, which were originally built by the Turkish pasha for his wives. Dining options include The Arabesque for Continental and Middle Eastern dishes, a brasserie (flanked by a heated garden pool open May to October) and a serene courtyard patio shaded by mulberry trees for meals or cocktails. In the summer months, an atmospheric bar in the Palm House garden opens. The hotel also has a fitness center, an antiques store and a bookshop.
